Kingshouse Glencoe Wedding Photographer

Charlotte & Walker

What an absolute honour it was to be the photographer for the very first wedding at the sensational Kingshouse in Glencoe.  Nestled away in the most picturesque part of Scotland, the Kingshouse was the perfect setting for this winter wedding.  The weather for Glencoe in December was surprisingly mild and with wild deer strolling around and stunning views of a snow topped Etive Mòr the stage was set for Charlotte & Walker's wedding.  I have been shooting elopements in Glencoe for years now and it blows me away every time I visit.  I have been waiting and waiting for a venue to open that could accommodate bigger weddings and was super excited when the newly refurbished  Kingshouse announced that they would be hosting them.  Situated right on the path of the West Highland Way  the Kingshouse is one of the most famous hill walker hotels in Scotland.  It recently got a huge refurb and it's amazing how they've kept the character of the old hotel whilst modernising both the exterior and interior.  I love how the timber cladding blends it in and compliments the stunning surroundings.

Charlotte & Walker's wedding was a truly international affair.  Charlotte is from Australia and the guests from down under were truly embracing the Scottish culture as they donned their kilts and sampled plenty of whisky.  They opted for a humanist wedding with Paula Wilkinson from Fuze Ceremonies which was full of warmth, humour and even a wee sing along.  Then we did a few family snaps before whisking the couple away for half an hour to make the most of the epic scenery.  It was then back for some hilarious speeches, yummy grub and an epic ceilidh by the Sultans of Fling (amazing name!).

I travelled up the night before with some extremely talented wedding supplier friends so we could start early the next day as an early ceremony is very much advised for a winter wedding to make the most of the limited day light.  Big shout out to my pal Laura Gray who is a hair & make-up genius and also very good laugh to hang out with in the morning of a wedding and also Lisa from Sparrow & Rose who is a master of the blooms!  Also a massive thanks to my second shooter for the day Fiona Higgins Photography.

It went a little something like this...
